In the 1630’s Dutch settled “Midwout, Flatbush,” one of Brooklyn’s six original towns, on land which is now Brooklyn Community District #14, Flatbush. District schools have produced many famous people. Just from Erasmus Hall High School are Neil Diamond, Waite Hoyt, Mickey Spillane, Mae West, Eli Wallach, Barbara Stanwyck, Bobby Fischer, Jerry Reinsdorf, Barbara Streissand, Earl Graves, Beverly Sills, Susan Hayward, Sid Luckman, Sam LeFrak, Al Davis, Lainie Kazan, Joseph Barbera, Dorothy Kilgallen, Moe Howard and John Forsythe. |
